owner. he's from the gun rights state of nevada. he has been very cautious saying that the senate should be cautious, but my understanding from talking to a number of sources is that he's speaking for himself but he's also speaking from the perspective of political reality, that there are a number of people in his caucus who would potentially really get slammed for supporting anything. so that's why he wants to take it slow. he doesn't want his people to walk the plank and suddenly not be the senate majority, lose the majority. but the other thing i think is really important to keep in mind is just how different this is. kind of taking it up to 5,000 or 10,000 feet. i cannot tell you how many times after so many of these tragedies, after one of their own gabby giffords was shot, calling up senate democratic sources saying, are you going to do anything? nope. nothing's changed. after aurora, nope, nothing's changed. n newtown changed the dialogue, the decision at the white house and here in congress by some to put this issue, again, which was very, very difficult. for ten years democrats

with fellow democrats. >> they do. you look at harry reid from nevada, it's clear he's not going to take the lead on this in the senate. he will leave that to his chief lieutenant. today we had pat leahy come out and he said quote we will pass what we can get. that doesn't mean -- that sure doesn't sound to me like he believes the president's entire package is going to get through. there are also senators democrats up for re-election in gun states like montana louisiana, south dakota. so those are real issues for the president because, of course, they want to keep control of the senate and also there are western senators who are going to be looking for some middle ground. >> see, the key words, middle ground. >> if there is any. >> gloria, thank you. >>> one of the country's oldest airlines now has a brand new look. we're going to show you how american airlines is engaged in a major makeover. >>> plus, it's not just 20s anymore. the big change that you'll be seeing very soon at some atms. by leaving the state and going to texas, florida, nevada, wyoming, one of the states that don't collect state taxes. there is a bigger issue here as well and i think we'll start seeing this with a lot of athletes. it's very popular to come and play for the san francisco 49ers or the los angeles lakers, but at 13.3% i think you'll see a lot more people considering florida, considering texas, considering tennessee, there is a new team going to be going up to seattle, the state of washington now in the mba. i think you'll see some of the athletes with salary caps avoiding the state because they can get a 13.8% raise by not playing here. bill: you may be dead right about that. that would be remarkable too. that goes into the busy digs of signing a contract. phil will be out playing this week and the suggestion to the statement is that he might add a little more to this. we'll see if that is the case throughout the week here. it's always good to have you on, jim gray out of california. >> appreciate it. thank you. martha: while we've been talking this morning the president and the first lady and t

one no income taxes. washington state, nevada, arizona is about half of what california is. texas, obvious leave. florida is a longer way away. some of these guys have ties in some of these neighboring states, their businesses are here but they ship into california but it's very easy for them, but then again, you know, you've got grand kid, you've god kids. you've got to weigh what is going to work for you. but i'd say move to costa rica, they've looked at new zealand, singapore. these are not dumb people. when they are worth 5 to $10 million,. heather: they sound like they are serious about it. jon: i'm sure the hollywood types will stay and pay their fair share. coming up a look at how hillary clinton's testimony lines up with the official timeline. plus, new video of the terror attack in algeria and questions about possible links to al-qaida. heather: today's testimony by secretary of state hillary clinton shedding new light on the terror attack in benghazi. addressing the questions about what the administration knew immediately afterward, and how they reacted. >> if i wish to

to do some in nevada. yes, sir. >> regarding religious liberty faith issues, economically and otherwise who believe that our religious, state religious liberty and life come from jesus, not men. >> i'm sorry, i didn't get the question. >> i'll rephrase that. basically the christian church in our nation are concerned about the moral decline in our nation and how faith and religious liberty issues in life are crucial, from declaration of independence, and how they would believe that our rights come from jesus, not men. how would the administration respond to that? >> i'm not sure i have an administration response. the president as a man of faith believes very deeply in the importance that it plays in his life and understands clearly the importance of place in the lives of so many millions of americans. yes, major. >> is the gdp report good news or bad news? >> i don't think anytime you see a reduction in economic growth that it's goodness, but i think we need to understand what lies underneath the come in particular in defense spending, which is consistent with what we know has been going

shooting range in nevada here. we're going to look at an m-16. this is a real m-16. carlos, if you would just set that up for us, i'm going to put some eye protection and ear protection on while he does that. thank you, sir. so if you look at this m-16, wolf, right now it's in the safe position. when you move it to the number one position, that's the semiautomatic position. and that means as i pull the trigger, each time i pull that trigger, a round goes off. when i turn it to the number three position here, that's fully automatic. when i pull the trigger, the gun doesn't stop until i stop pulling that trigger. that's the big difference. one thing of note here, it is an m-16 but this weapon would be, except for that feature of the fully automatic, this weapon would be legal under current law and how the president would then decide which weapons would not be legal under -- what it's all going to come down to. this is a 30-round magazine. this would be presumably illegal. i want to bring in mike heck. thank you, carlos, very much. i want to bring in mike heck who is the manager here at the

states. most sharply in nevada. ravage of course by the housing bust, and in my home state of indiana, which sought a rise in low-paying jobs. in all 50 states, the richest 20% of households made far greater income gains than any other quintile, up 12% national ly. income for the median household fell with michigan and connecticut leading the way. the five largest increases in inequality -- get this -- the five largest increases in inequality in this country since 1989, all in new england. connecticut, massachusetts, new hampshire, rhode island, and vermont. a decline in manufacturing jobs, and in case you are wondering, hit new england's poor and middle pretty hard, while the highly educated benefited from the expansion of biotech, and you will not be surprised by this, finance. the only state that did not see the rise in inequality was the state i was born in. i grew up in indiana, but i was born in mississippi. the only state that did not see a rise in inequality, but get this -- it had an insignificant dip. the magnolia state was one of the few to post a small drop in poverty and

nevada. as we know, obviously he is a hunter himself. it's hard to know exactly what his priorities are, but i would not put gun control on the top of the list. he said yesterday he's going to bring it up for a vote. he indicated he's not going to sort of block this, but that's not his priority. i think immigration is probably one of his priorities. as sam said, there's definitely an impetus for both sides to do this. and if democrats don't push this, republicans will be very suspicious of them because they believe that they just want to hold it out there as a political issue. >> if they don't push immigration. >> if they don't push immigration. >> and here's the fascinating thing about immigration. i remember talking to salter with the mccain campaign in 2008. and i said, why did you guys go the path you did? mark salter? i said, why don't you go ahead and push a bill where somebody worked here for five years. they could go back to mexico. they could apply. and they could come and have legal status. why didn't you go that route? americans would have supported that. he laughed. he said,

these guns from nevada because california system doesn't work as long as it's not a national system as long as someone who wants to get a gun can go somewhere else it has a whole so i think we have to be clear about that. to you, mr. chipman, thank you for the testimony. it was very powerful. as an atf special agent for how many years? >> 24. >> 24 years, with a little experience what is the track record when it comes to prosecuting federal firearms licensees who are caught in violating the anti-gun trafficking law? >> they are very difficult to enforce. it is a standard of willfulness as i and a stand the lawyers tell me that it's more difficult than the standard of knowing. i didn't go to law school but it seems to be very problematic when you bring something to court and that's why you have to do undercover investigations, they're time-consuming and they are quite difficult. it's also true that the inventory that i talked about that the dealers are not required to do a lot of time should the problem of employee theft. in my experience at least 50% of the dealers for having criminal probl
